Blaze

Arriving in the capital for a brief stint at the Peacock Theatre, “Blaze” is the new dance spectacular from the internationally recognised choreographer Anthony Van Laast. It is enjoying a huge international tour in 2010 and has chosen the Sadler’s Wells venue as the location for a magnificent world premiere, which is likely to dazzle audiences with a dizzying array of dance moves taking to the stage and presenting a show that is like no other.

“Blaze” features non-stop music through the course of the show, with high production values adding to the mix of street dancing and nightclub beats. When the 14 internationally renowned dancers take to the stage it will be a truly unique experience.

Under Anthony Van Laast, the 14 dancers take to the stage and showcase the unbeatable moves that have made their names. The show itself will mix many different styles and the ongoing music will remind audiences of being in a nightclub and dancing the night away. The aesthetics will also be spectacular, coming together with the sounds and the performers to present something truly epic in scope. These designs come from the mid of the award winning designer Es Devlin, who has been honoured for her work in theatre productions all over the country. Her credits are wide and far reaching, with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the plays of Harold Pinter amongst those that have benefited from her unbeatable eye. For the RSC she worked on a production of “Hercuba” amongst others, whilst her work for the Bush Theatre’s production of “Howie The Rookie” earned her the TMS Best Design Award. It means that audiences can expect a lot when they arrive at the Peacock Theatre to witness “Blaze”.

But she is not the only talent working on the show who has been recognised for her work. Anthony Van Laast, the choreographer of “Blaze”, has earned nominations for Laurence Olivier Awards in the past for his work on shows such as “The Beggar’s Opera” and “Hair” in London. The alumni of the London School of Contemporary Dance has lent his choreography skills to a range of productions in London and beyond, with credits that include well known shows like “Mamma Mia!” at the Prince of Wales Theatre, “Annie Get Your Gun”, “A Little Night Music” and “Into the Woods”, all of which appeared on stages in the capital.

He has also leant his hand to directing and whilst his touring version of “Burn the Floor” was successful enough, his work has also been seen at the Royal Albert Hall, where he directed “Kiri Te Kanawa’s 50th Birthday Concert” in 1994.

Appearing at the Peacock Theatre in London, the world premiere run of “Blaze” takes place from Thursday 11th March 2010 to Sunday 28th March 2010.
