Christmas with the Rat Pack

The stage is set this Christmas for the return of the legendary Rat Pack to London’s West End. Though the original team of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and others may have passed-on, their legacy lives on with these spectacular tribute shows that have been seen all over the world in front of eager sell-out crowds. This time around the action lands at the Wyndham’s Theatre, where audiences have already seen some top shows in 2011, from “Much Ado About Nothing” with David Tennant to “Driving Miss Daisy” with James Earl Jones. Now they will be able to take a trip back to the 1960s and relive the work of the most famous entertainers of all time.
The production will be beginning its run in December and will take the form of “Christmas with the Rat Pack” until Saturday 7th January 2011, after which the seasonal themes will be replaced with the standard “The Rat Pack Live from Vegas” experience. But whichever version audiences happen to catch it is likely that they will relish in an array of stand-out classic tracks, whether it is “Let it Snow” or “New York, New York”, among others.
The Rat Pack was a world famous group of actors and musicians that famously performed in Las Vegas and appeared in various well known movies. Though Humphrey Bogart was one of the original members, the group is best known for featuring Sinatra, Davis Jr. and Martin alongside Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop. Some of the famous movies for which they are known include “Ocean’s Eleven”, “Robin and the Seven Hoods” and “The Cannonball Run” from the 1940 to the 1980s. Their work has been enormously influential and iconic and with that in mind there is little wonder their legacy lives on in the form of “Christmas with the Rat Pack”.
So it is likely to be a Christmas to remember in 2011 when the performers take to the stage and turn the Wyndham’s Theatre into the Sands Hotel of the 1960s. Mitch Sebastian directs.
“Christmas with the Rat Pack” runs at the Wyndham’s Theatre from Tuesday 20th December 2011 to Saturday 7th January 2011. Then “The Rat Pack Live from Vegas” runs from Monday 9th January 2011 to Saturday 21st January 2011.
