When “Jewels” returns to the Royal Opera House as part of the Royal Ballet in 2011 it is likely that there will be plenty of people across the capital hoping to pick up ballet tickets and witness the performers take to the stage. After all, previous appearances of the show at the Covent Garden venue have earned Laurence Olivier Awards and a range of performers have taken on the iconic roles. It is set to take to the stage in September 2011 and continue until October, with Ricardo Civera, Tamara Rojo and Alina Cojocaru among the many taking on principal roles.

George Balanchine’s ballet features three separate sections – Emeralds, Rubies and Diamonds – and with them three different composers’ work makes up the score – Gabriel Faure, Igor Stravinsky and Pyotr Il’yich Tchaikovsky. So when it returns it is likely to excite and entertain audiences much in the same way as it did back in the 1960s when Balanchine premiered the show at the New York City Ballet.

“Jewels” makes its latest appearance at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden from Tuesday 20th September 2011 to Wednesday 5th October 2011.
