Last year audiences gathered at the South Bank Big Top to witness “La Soirée”, the anticipated follow-up to 2008’s “La Clique”. The unique production sees crowds witness a range of colourful and memorable cabaret acts, some of which previously appeared in the production’s predecessor at the London Hippodrome.
There had been a significant gap in the West End landscape when “La Clique” closed and when “La Soirée” opened at the Big Top it was clear that they had a hit on their hands and so it is little wonder that the show is returning to the stage in November with a run at the London Roundhouse.
Some of the performers from “La Clique” that repeat their success in “La Soirée” include Miss Behave, the recognisable PVC clad performer, Captain Frodo, David O’Mer and The English Gents, among others. In addition to these there will be plenty of other recognisable and memorable acts that are certain to make “La Soirée” a show to remember.
Take, for example, Meow Meow (whose real name is Melissa Madden Gray). She will be making her way to the stage for “La Soirée” having previously appeared in the South Bank Big Top Production and having recently acted in “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg” at the Gielgud Theatre. The actress is a highly talented member of the stage and will easily be recognisable to London theatre audiences that have seen her previous work in the capital.
And alongside the rest of the troupe she has also been seen in other shows around the world. It was in Edinburgh that audiences first witnessed the team take to the stage and since then they have also appeared in other world cities, from Sydney to New York and from Stockholm to London. Now, however, London audiences will have another opportunity to witness the show in what is being described as a festive reappearance from November.
The show was created by Brett Haylock, who was also behind “La Clique”, and this shows that those that enjoyed that show at the London Hippodrome back in 2008/9 will be right at home with “La Soirée”.
It runs at the London Roundhouse from Wednesday 23rd November 2011 to Sunday 29th January 2012.
