Le Nozze Di Figaro

As part of a cycle of shows celebrating the work of Mozart, which also includes performances of “Don Giovanni”, “Le nozze di Figaro” arrives on the stage of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. The production will feature Antonio Pappano and Richard Hetherington as conductors whilst the cast is made up of the likes of Simon Keenlyside, Ildebrando D’Arcangelo, Aleksandra Kurzak and Rachel Willis-Sorenson, among others. For opera aficionados it will not be a show to miss and it is set to appear in front of those with opera tickets from February to March 2012.

This is a production of David McVicar’s 1830 version of Mozart’s 1786 classic and features the character of Figaro (D'Arcangelo) as he attempts to protect Susanna (Kurzak), his sister, from the plans of Count Almaviva (Keenlyside). Mozart composed the piece and a libretto was put together by Lorenzo Da Ponte and with revolutionary Europe as the backdrop to this gripping, memorable and compelling tale it will result in a stand-out piece at the Royal Opera House in the year of the London Olympics (it appears as part of the venue’s Olympic Programme).

“Le nozze di Figaro” appears at the Royal Opera House from Saturday 11th February 2012 to Friday 2nd March 2012.
