The story of “Oliver!” is set to hit the stage of Manchester’s Palace Theatre this January, giving audiences there the chance to witness a musical that has dazzled those around the world, including in the West End where a production ended at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane last year.
Charles Dickens’ classic characters were perfect for the musical theatre treatment and as a result this has become one of the most popular musicals around thanks to the work of Lionel Bart and each new appearance on stages worldwide regularly attract big crowds. So audiences are likely to be quick to get hold of theatre tickets for the Manchester production when it runs from January to March.
“Oliver!” contains many famous scenes, perhaps most notably the moment when the young orphan boy challenges authority by asking “Please sir, I want some more” whilst at a canteen in a workhouse. This action leads to his return to the street and as a result we get a glimpse at the dark underbelly of 19th century London and various famous and questionable characters along the way.
“Oliver!” is set to run at the Palace Theatre in Manchester from Wednesday 25th January 2012 to Saturday 10th March 2012.
