Potted Panto

Audiences that lapped up shows such as “Potted Potter” by CBBC’s Dan and Jeff in recent years will be in for a treat this December as the children’s favourites return to the West End with their latest show “Potted Panto”. It is an opportunity for children to witness a celebrated and well-received show in the West End, with the production transferring to its new location following a run at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It makes the capital the place to be during the Christmas season, with plenty of shows for all the family making their appearance, from “Room on the Broom” and The Night Before Christmas to the annual staging of The Snowman at the Peacock Theatre.

With “Potted Panto”, Dan and Jeff will take on an extraordinary challenge; to recreate as many famous and iconic roles from the world of pantomime as possible, meaning that they will take on an array of iconic roles that people have come to love and adore. So expect everything from Dick Wittington and Aladdin to Cinderella, Snow White and Jack (of “Jack and the Beanstalk” fame) to make an appearance in what is likely to be the pantomime event of the year. For kids it will be a memorable show and as a result, few will regret picking up theatre tickets to witness it firsthand.

The show will be directed by a well known writer and director in the form of Richard Hurst, who has previously teamed up with Dan and Jeff with “Potted Potter” and “Potted Pirates”, whilst also directing numerous shows for television (“Miranda”, “Secret Diary of a Call Girl” etc). He has also worked on various other shows that have made their mark at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, including “Moon the Loon”, “Silly Billy Bum Breath” and others.

Then there’s Dan and Jeff, who will need little introduction to children following their work for CBBC where they are regularly seen on our television screens. With their previous shows that made quite an impression on audiences, particularly “Potted Potter: The Unauthorised Harry Experience” at the Trafalgar Studios last year, they have proven to be a popular choice for children visiting a London theatre.

“Potted Panto” makes its appearance at the Vaudeville Theatre from Friday 10th December 2010 to Sunday 9th January 2011.
