Showstopper! The Improvised Musical

When audiences arrive in the West End to experience the best in live musicals they might expect to visit a show that has been rehearsed and prepared well in advance of the curtain-draw. But with one new show arriving at the Ambassador’s Theatre in 2011 this is far from the case with London theatre audiences treated to a unique musical showcase featuring some of the most talented improvisation artists in the country. The show is “Showstopper! The Improvised Musical” and it is set to take the West End by storm following its smash hit run in Edinburgh in 2010.

But just because the show is not planned does not mean that audiences are in for something that isn’t professional and entertaining, with the show’s founders Adam Meggido and Dylan Emery celebrated as talented performers. So the audience arrives and it is they who are asked for suggestions on the make-up of the production they are about to witness. From the title and the storyline to the type of music that should be implemented and more, the result will be a show that no two audiences will experience, making for a special and distinctive night. Not only does this mean you won’t have the show spoiled in advance, you will also get a chance to return for seconds and experience something completely different!

Adam Meggido, as well as being a co-founder of the “Showstopper” brand, which has also had a home on BBC Radio 4 and at London’s King’s Head Theatre, is also the Artistic Director of The Sticking Place production company. His career has provided him with credits that include “The Greenhouse Effect” at the Riverside Studios and “Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens” which has appeared in both the West End and on a UK tour. Meanwhile, directing credits include “The End of the Sentence” for The Sticking Place. As such he is a renowned actor, writer and director who will bring a lot to the table when “Showstopper! The Improvised Musical” runs in the West End.

So with Stomp continuing in the capital for the foreseeable future, “Showstopper! The Improvised Musical” joins it at the Ambassador’s Theatre with a run that takes it from Tuesday 8th February 2011 to Tuesday 29th March 2011.
