Those with theatre tickets to the Leicester Square Theatre in 2009 may have been fortunate enough to have been witnessing the exploits of Miss Polly Rae and the consort of burlesque entertainers that make up “The Hurly Burly Show”. It was a unique addition to the London theatre landscape and featured a host of top burlesque performers as part of its team, proving to be a considerable success in the process. In fact it was enough of a success for the show to make a triumphant return this year as the Garrick Theatre welcomes “The Hurly Burly Show” once again, this time for a run from March 2011.
Miss Polly Rae is a singer and dancer who has been seen in London on numerous occasions ever since she set her sights on burlesque back in 2006. Before that she had been a beauty therapist and it was not until she came across a course that she decided to give it a try, emerging with her stage act as Miss Polly Rae soon afterwards, beginning with a show at the Soho Revue Bar and progressing to “Miss Polly Rae: The All New Hurly Burly Show”. Her efforts have paid off with various awards and performances as part of some prestigious shows.
But Miss Polly Rae is not the only performer that appears as part of “The Hurly Burly Show” as she is joined by a team that is made up of Miss Rosey Cheeks, Liverty Sweet, Ooh La Lou, Betsie Bon Bon, Felicity Splits and Lady Katy. Then there is the entertainer Miss Laurie Hagen, who may be a familiar face to anyone that has ever witnessed shows such as ITV’s “The Royal”. So expect a memorable evening of burlesque hijinks when The Hurly Burly Girlys take to the stage at the Garrick Theatre.
The show is set to appear at the venue following productions such as the one-off concert “Lance Horne: First Things Last”, which features a host of West End entertainers. “The Hurly Burly Show” can be witnessed by audiences about a month later when it runs from Friday 11th March 2011 (with previews from Thursday 3rd March 2011) and continues to Sunday 1st May 2011.
