18-22 Greenside Place
The Edinburgh Playhouse is situated on Greenside Place, at the top of Leith Walk and close to the east end of Princes Street. This is less than 10 minute's walk from Waverley Station, 5 minutes walk from the bus station and on various major bus routes.
One of the best known musicals in London’s West End hits the road and, in doing so, arrives on the stage of the Edinburgh Playhouse this Christmas season, giving those in Scotland a chance to witness the epic tale set to the song of the Queen. The tale takes audiences 300 years into the future where Earth has been transformed by globalisation into the oppressive Planet Mall, with freedom of expression is outlawed. It is up to the Bohemians – a group of freedom fighters – to return the world to the golden age known as the Rhapsody.
The production has appeared in regional theatres across the United Kingdom on numerous occasions – including an appearance at the Edinburgh Playhouse – and it has proved popular time and time again. But then it has been held in high regard ever since it first opened at the Dominion Theatre in London’s West End and its regular performances at that venue are set to continue for some time to come.
It means that musical theatre fans will get numerous opportunities to witness the hit songs of Queen like “Who Wants to Live Forever”, “Another One Bites the Dust” and “A Kind of Magic” for years to come.
But they won’t want to miss the show when it arrives in Edinburgh this Christmas, with a run that takes it from Tuesday 29th November 2011 to Saturday 7th January 2012.
