With “All My Sons”, Howard Davies presents his Olivier Award Winning production of Arthur Miller’s classic Greek tragedy, with Hercule Poirot himself David Suchet in a leading role and a supporting cast that includes “My Family” star Zoe Wanamaker.

Arthur Miller’s play has been a classic production for many years and features a married couple whose life is torn apart by war in the most unexpected of ways. With three Award-winning artists bringing the show to life, it will be a powerful production of a classic piece – one that will prove to be captivating when it opens at the Apollo Theatre later in the year.

Director Davies won a Laurence Olivier Award for the production when it first appeared on the stage of the National Theatre in 2000. At the same time, both of his stars are internationally recognised for their contributions to theatre and the screen, with Wanamaker the recipient of a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in “Electra” in 1997 and Suchet an International Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning actor.

“All My Sons” focuses on the Keller family and the fractured relationship between Joe and his wife Kate. Their son Larry was killed during the Second World War and out in the garden is a memorial to his life. But when the apple tree that marks his life is torn down by a storm it serves as a haunting reminder to the circumstances surrounding his death.

During the war, Joe Keller sold engines to fighter planes taking part in the war effort, but when a faulty batch lead to the death of 21 pilots, including his son, the finger was pointed at him. The mistake cast intense scrutiny on the man and at home, the Keller household tore itself apart, with Kate Keller watching in horror as her lost son’s fiancé found solace in one of his remaining siblings.

It is a story of love, betrayal, guilt and greed and as “All My Sons” races along its compelling plot, a hidden family secret arrives into fruition before the play ends, with the tension increasing and the guilt rising.

Both Suchet and Wanamaker are recognisable faces both on the stage and screen. Suchet is best known for his role of Poirot in ITV’s adaptations of Agatha Christie’s novels, whilst Wanamaker is famous for playing Mrs Harper in “My Family”. But on stage they have also impressed, with Suchet appearing in “Complicit” at the Old Vic in 2009 and Wanamaker in “Much Ado About Nothing” at the National Theatre in 2007.

“All My Sons” is at the Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue from Thursday 27th May 2010 (previews from Wednesday 19th May 2010) to Saturday 11th September 2010.
