Lidless

In 2010 audiences arriving at the Udderbelly’s Pasture at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe were treated to a new play from writer Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig that took on a contentious topic and provided a compelling piece of work for audiences.

Now it makes its way to a London theatre in 2011, joining other successful transfers like The Fitzrovia Radio Hour, with a run at Trafalgar Studios 2. If its success at the festival in the Scottish capital is anything to go by it is likely to be a stand-out and unforgettable play when it appears in the West End from March.

“Lidless” takes on the controversial subject of Guantanamo Bay, with the character of Alice the focus of the story. She was an interrogator at the prison fifteen years ago and to forget about her actions she took pills to erase her memory. But in “Lidless” she is paid a visit by Bashir, a former prisoner who was once under her watch. It runs at Trafalgar Studios 2 from Tuesday 15th March 2011 (previews from Thursday 10th March 2011) to Saturday 2nd April 2011.
