Five years ago “Harry Potter” fans across the capital picked up Theatre Tickets to witness a celebrated and popular live show entitled “Potted Potter: The Unauthorised Harry Potter Experience” with CBBC presenters Dan and Jeff live onstage. Since then the pair have returned with further productions that work on the ‘Potted’ theme, but with the final movie in the “Harry Potter” series set to hit cinema screens in the summer there couldn’t be a more perfect time to return to the West End and witness the show that earned them great acclaim. So London theatre audiences are going to be flocking to the Garrick Theatre to witness “Potted Potter” when it returns in August 2011.
Since “Potted Potter” was last seen in London, Dan & Jeff, known to their friends as Daniel Clarkson and Jeff Turner, have returned with follow-ups “Potted Pirates” and “Potted Panto”. Both of these have been seen in London and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, with the latter appearing most recently during the 2010/2011 Christmas season and landing the duo a Laurence Olivier Award nomination. So their return with “Potted Potter” cannot come soon enough.
The show sees the duo attempt to recreate popular stories from all of the “Harry Potter” books onstage. It was first seen in 2006 and has earned many fans for Dan & Jeff, plus director Richard Hurst. But then, their challenge was an impressive one and saw them attempt numerous costume changes and utilise various props to bring it to life. After all, they are only two people and the result is a rollercoaster ride onstage – something that has been repeated with their follow-up shows time and time again.
Daniel Clarkson has appeared in various television programmes over the years, from CBBC and “Blue Peter” to series such as “Coronation Street”. Jeff Turner is no different, having appeared with Clarkson on CBBC and also appeared on “Richard and Judy”, among others. So both of them have plenty of experience in the entertainment world and will put a smile on anyone’s face when they arrive at the Garrick Theatre in the summer.
“Potted Potter” appears at the Garrick whilst “Pygmalion” is enjoying its May to September run. The former runs from Thursday 18th August 2011 to Monday 29th August 2011.
