In October of 2006, Beach House released their first self-titled album through Carpark Records. The album was received extremely well by fans and critics alike, gaining three and a half out of five stars from AllMusic and similar ratings from other respected critics.
The album contains nine tracks, such as ‘Auburn and Ivory,’ ‘House on the Hill,’ ‘Lovely Girl’ and ‘Heart and Lungs.’ The album did well on the charts, and reached number sixteen on the list of the ‘Best Albums of 2006’ by Pitchfork Media. After another two years, the band released their second album titled ‘Devotion.’ The album contained tracks such as ‘You Came to Me,’ ‘Some Things Last A Long Time,’ ‘All The Years’ and ‘Wedding Bell.’ The second album also received positive reviews from various critics such as Rolling Stone, Spin magazine, and NME magazine. Along with the release of their second album, Legrand contributed to making music that has appeared in the Twilight movies. The track ‘Slow Life,’ featured in the “New Moon” film, was composed by Grizzly Bear and featured Victoria’s vocals.
The band released yet another album in January of 2010. ‘Teen Dream’ features eleven tracks such as ‘Walk in the Park,’ ’10 Mile Stereo’ and ‘Used to Be.’ The third album yet again was praised by critics such as the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) and Pitchfork, who claimed ‘Teen Dream’ to be Beach House’s best album yet. The album peaked at number six in the US Alternative Album charts, and remains popular amongst avid fans of Legrand and Scally.
