The band’s first experience with a record company occurred while the band was playing under the name ‘Idoru.’ The company, Blanco Y Negro helped the band to release their first EP named ‘Safety in Numbers’ in 2001. The band continued to play gigs in order to get themselves known in their hometown and in any other nearby places they could book.

The band changed their name to ‘Delays’ shortly before they were approached by and signed to Rough Trade Records. Three years after the release of the ‘Safety in Numbers’ EP, Delays finally came out with their first full length album ‘Faded Seaside Glamour.’ The record contains twelve songs such as their debut single ‘Nearer than Heaven,’ ‘Stay Where You Are,’ and ‘You Wear the Sun.’ Critics loved the album, with respected critics from NME magazine giving it an amazing seven out of ten stars, along with webzine AllMusic rating it a four out of five. Almost immediately after the album was released, it had soared into the top 20 in the UK Albums Charts, allowing Delays to build a strong fan-base that would follow them and their music.

The band released their second album ‘You See Colours’ in March of 2006. The album was another successful release for Delays, receiving positive feedback from critics and fans. The album contains eleven tracks, such as ‘Winter’s Memory of Summer,’ ‘Too Much in Your Life,’ and ‘Sink Like a Stone,’ most of which were written by member Greg Gilbert. 2006 proved to be a great one for Delays, as the band received a considerable amount of media coverage, appearing on Top of the Pops and the BBC, as well as being given the opportunity to play two major summer music festivals.

For those who have not yet listened to Delays, it is highly advised that you do so, and the opportunity to see the band performing live is also something to be experienced. The band is highly energetic and is completely devoted to their fans’ enjoyment. To order tickets, check the many online ticketing services or even the band’s own website for details.
