In the early years, the band would perform at various gigs that they could book; the name ‘Kasabian’ came from Linda Kasabian from the Charles Manson Cult. Each member of the band at the time found the word interesting, and it has stuck ever since. In 2004, the band released their first full length album, ‘Kasabian.’ Two of the singles on the albm ‘Processed Beats’ and ‘Reason is Treason,’ were popular amongst listeners; however, the single that sky-rocketed the band to success was ‘Club Foot.’ This song has since become one of the band’s most famous and popular songs, being featured in various other medias, such as video games and films.
Shortly after the success of ‘Kasabian,’ the band began working on their second album, ‘Empire.’ During the recording of this album, one of the members, Christopher Karloff became unhappy with the style of music, and was thus asked to leave the band; his replacement would be Jay Mehler. The album was released in August of 2006, and was received relatively well by critics. Webzines Allmusic gave the album three stars out of five, whilst music magazine NME gave the album nine out of ten stars. The band performed at various concerts to support the release of ‘Empire.’ T in the Park, Isle of Wight and Glastonbury Festival were just a few of the better-known gigs that Kasabian played. The release of their second album managed to ensure the band’s prolonged success with their fans.
