Oasis is the name given to the British pop band who have influenced and revolutionised the Britpop genre. The band has released millions of copies of singles such as ‘Champagne Supernova,’ ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out.’
The band originally formed in 1991 and consisted of members Liam and Noel Gallagher, Germ Archer, Alan White, paul McGuigan, Paul Arthurs and Tony McCarrol since their formation. In the seventeen years that they were together, Oasis has managed to secure twenty two top ten singles in the United Kindom alone.
In 2009, the band split up after an explosive fight between Liam and Noel Gallagher. In a statement, Noel stated that he could no longer work with his brother and that he was sad but relieved to be leaving the group.
For fans who were lucky enough to witness Oasis performing live during their prime, they will all agree that an Oasis concert was highly energetic and hugely awarding. Many of Oasis’ albums are still available for sale today in record stores worldwide, and their songs are still played on radio stations throughout the globe. Perhaps one of their most popular songs ‘Wonderwall’ is still hugely listened to today, providing an example of the influence this band has had on fans throughout the past decade.
