The English singer-songwriter has fans worldwide, though his biggest crowd has been here at home where he is somewhat of a national treasure – a defining part of British popular culture. As such, we can expect Paul Weller to remain an influential figure for years to come. So when he appears onstage, audience members will be glad they got hold of Paul Weller tickets when they became available.
With The Jam, Paul Weller was involved in a range of releases between 1976 and 1982, enjoying an abundance of number one hits, with songs that included “Going Underground” and “Just Who is The 5 O’Clock Hero?”. Weller was behind most of the early compositions and his work with them would launch him to stardom, allowing him to form The Style Council upon leaving the band. The Style Council had many releases between 1983 and 1989, with Weller joined onstage with the likes of Mick Talbot, Steve White, Dee C. Lee and others.
But it was his solo work that would continue his career until the modern day, with his experience with The Jam and The Style Council allowing him to enjoy great success for the next two decades. His work would also inspire legion of other musicians, from Blur and Oasis to the Arctic Monkeys and Hard-Fi, which means he had passed on his skills to a new generation after he himself was inspired by the likes of The Beatles, The Who, The Kinks and more. His stature in the music industry, particularly his role in the mod revival of the 70s and 80s, has led to him being known as the Modfather.
His first solo album hit the shops in 1992. A self-titled release, it featured the singles “Into Tomorrow”, “Uh Huh Oh Yeh” and “Above the Clouds”, all of which had various degrees of success. It would be a well known album, leading to a deluxe re-release in 2009, with many of his fans hailing his return to form. He would follow it up with “Wild Wood” in 1993, “Stanley Road” in 1995 and “Heavy Soul” in 1997. The new century would then see him release a lot of alums, beginning with “Heliocentric” in 2000 and progressing to “Wake Up the Nation” in 2010, the latter of which featured contributions from his former band-mate from The Jam – Bruce Foxton. It would be an enormous success story and reached number two in the UK album charts in April 2010.
So it is safe to say that many people will be getting their hands on Paul Weller tickets when they are available, allowing them to witness one of the most influential musicians of the last few decades. He has a lot of work under his belt and the future could bring plenty more.
