They have a wide range of singles and albums to their name, spanning the period from 1985 to the modern day, and as a result have proven to be a versatile band whilst managing to keep their fans happy in the process. So when they return to the stage at home in the United Kingdom, audiences should ensure they have gotten hold of concert tickets whilst they had the chance.
Before The Wedding Present emerged on the scene audiences in Leeds will have been familiar with the sounds of the Lost Pandas, which split in 1984 and paved the way for the band that stuck around for decades after. Today, only one member remains from the original line-up (and the Lost Pandas) and he takes the form of David Gedge, who today performs alongside Graeme Ramsay, Pepe le Moko and Charlie Layton. Through various different line-ups the band has had success with songs such as “Brassneck”, “Dalliance”, “Blue Eyes”, “Come Play with Me”, “California” and “Holly Jolly Hollywood”, amongst others, with audiences picking up rock tickets hoping to hear such tracks live.
And their career has also seen them emerge with the tracks found on their studio albums, of which many have been released between 1987 and the modern day. Their first took the form of “George Best” in 1987 and they soon followed it up with “Bizarro” in 1989. Then, across the last two decades, they have continuing to release albums such as “Seamonsters”, “Saturnalia”, “Take Fountain” and “El Rey”, plus many more. And whilst there could be comparisons to other long-lasting indie bands like The Fall, they have certainly made their own mark on the music scene.
And it is live onstage where fans will witness the high quality of their musicianship, with plenty of songs from a lengthy back catalogue at their disposal and plenty of fans clamouring to hear such tracks live. So seeing The Wedding Present is a must and this will remain the case well into the future.
