Sadly, in 1995 when the group was working on their first album, Goldsworthy and Lavelle clashed heads about the style of music they were making; Goldsworthy wanted to make House music, whereas Lavelle wanted to incorporate hip-hop singers and hints of rock music. Goldsworthy thus left the group in order to pursue his own taste, eventually forming DFA Records.

Lavelle decided to start fresh for the debut album, and called upon DJ Shadow to help with the development of material. The pair released ‘Psyence Fiction’ in 1998, and critics praised the album. Rolling Stone gave the album an amazing four and a half stars out of five, and webzine Allmusic gave four out of five stars.  The European and US album contained fourteen tracks, featuring collaborations with artists such as Mike D of the Beastie Boys, Jason Newsted of Metallica and Richard Ashcroft of The Verve. Following the release of ‘Psyence Fiction,’ DJ Shadow left and was replaced by a turntable group named Scratch Perverts.

Unkle’s second album ‘Never, Never Land’ was released in September of 2003. The album took on a more electric sound, and again featured collaborations with various well known musicians such as Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack. The album was received relatively well by both fans and critics, and ‘Unkle’ began using the name ‘Unklesounds.’ The group continued releasing various other materials, such as an album containing only remixes of various film soundtracks titled ‘Edit Music for a Film: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Reconstruction.’

Unkle’s third album ‘War Stories’ was released in the summer of 2007, containing tracks such as ‘Keys to the Kingdom’ (featuring Gavin Clark), ‘When Things Explode’ (featuring Ian Astbury), and ‘Hold My Hand.’ After the release of the single ‘Hold My Hand,’ Pablo Clements officially became a member of Unkle.

For clubbers all over Europe and throughout the world, seeing a live DJ set of Unkle’s music will make for an extremely energetic and fun-filled evening. Tickets for Unkle DJ sets can be purchased through any venue in which they will be appearing, or through various online ticketing services as well as through Unkle’s own website.
