Bellowhead are a critically acclaimed folk act, with John Spiers and Jon Boden leading 9 other members through traditional English songs from dance classics to other traditional beats. Spiers and Boden are joined by Benji Kirkpatrick, Rachael McShane, Paul Sartin, Sam Sweeney, Pete Flood, Gideon Juckes, Ed Neuhauser, Brendan Kelly, Justin Thurgur and Andy Mellon. Bellowhead first emerged on the music scene in 2004 with the release of their first record “E.P Onymous”, which featured various examples of “English World Music”. They soon found success, despite very few gigs and few rehearsal sessions under their belts, with BBC Radio 2 handing them a Folk Award for Best Live Act in 2005. They would then release their debut full length album “Burlesque” to considerable success and more awards and nominations.
But that was not the last of them, and they once again turned heads with “Matachin” in 2008, “Live at Shepherds Bush Empire” (DVD – 2009) and appearances on compilations CDs.
