For indie fans, one festival that is surely at the top of their must-be-there lists is Bestival, held annually on the Isle of Wight within the confines of Robin Hill country park. Since 2004 it has been hosting great indie bands of all shapes and sizes, as well as DJs, big name bands and more. With tens of thousands of people in attendance it has proven to be a massive success story and as a result, indie fans will want to get their hands on Bestival tickets as soon as possible.
Each year, the number of people attending Bestival has increased tenfold, so that today it is a popular choice and a location that attracts enough like-minded fans to provide it with a glorious and memorable atmosphere.
In its first year, Bestival rolled out onto the festival scene with a line up that included headliners Basement Jaxx, Fatboy Slim and Zero 7. It was quickly clear that this was a festival with a difference, and those attending would have noticed the many factors that make it distinct, such as its commitment to various causes, including those related to the environment. This stance has helped attract particular fans and interest, making it a notable part of the summer festival climate.
In the years since 2004 it has continued to provide festival goers with an abundance of choice when it comes to bands, earning the title of Most Innovative Festival at the UK Festival Awards 2005, the year it saw R yksopp, The Magic Numbers and Super Furry Animals take to the stage. As it grew in popularity the festival would then provide the stage for Gogol Bordello, the Pet Shop Boys and Scissor Sisters in 2006, alongside the likes of The Klaxons, Lily Allen and the Sunshine Underground, whilst 2007 featured Primal Scream, The Chemical Brothers and Beastie Boys amongst others.
As the decade drew to a close, the festival continued to grow in size and by the time 2008 came along, tens of thousands of fans witnessed the likes of Underworld, Amy Winehouse and My Bloody Valentine perform alongside a line up that also included Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, The Coral and Aphex Twin. Then 2009 managed to beat that once again with more festival-goers and a line-up that included Elbow, Massive Attack and Kraftwerk.
So it is safe to say that Bestival is now an integral part of the summer line up and those that wish to witness some top of the range bands and musicians should make sure they get hold of Bestival tickets as soon as possible.
