During the summer months, when the summer festival season is in full swing, audiences across the country flock to events of their choice – and there is a lot on offer.
Lounge on the Farm is one of them, but nationwide there are many different festivals, all with their own atmospheres, styles and sizes, making for a varied musical landscape during the warmer months of the year, with some of the best acts on offer up and down the British Isles. As such it is no wonder that audiences consider festival tickets such sought-after items and that, year after year, they keep on coming back for more.
With Lounge on the Farm it is not just audiences that are getting a great deal; so are the bands. This is because Lounge on the Farm is not content with simply finding a bunch of well known bands and placing them onstage, they also wish to provide a platform for some up-and-coming musicians from the local area as well. It means that as well as popular acts like DJ Yoda, Martha Reeves, Mystery Jets and The Coral, Lounge on the Farm has also featured a range of future stars over the years and this is a tradition that is likely to continue well into the future.
The event has been running for many years and usually finds pride of place during July when it is staged at Merton Farm on Nackington Lane in Canterbury. The first year of the festival took place in 2006 and the line-up included The View, Vincent Vincent and the Villains, Nizlopi and more. Then as time went on further top names were invited to perform so that by 2008 audiences were witnessing the likes of New York Dolls, The Coral, Los Campesinos!, Art Brut and Lightspeed Champion, amongst others, with Edwyn Collins, The xx and The Aliens amongst those appearing the following year in 2009.
And now there is a new decade upon us and the first year of it, 2010, saw names such as Martha Reeves, The Vandellas, Toots & Maytals,Snow Club, Tunng and more. So as the decade continues it is likely to see Lounge on the Farm continue to attract a sizable audience.
But then, in addition to the great music, Lounge on the Farm also features a range of other activities on site, from a solar cinema and places to consume food to activities provided by the Strummerville charity as well. So make sure you are first in line.
After all, nothing beats visiting a summer music festival and Lounge on the Farm is one of many that prove that you don’t have to go to a juggernaut event like Leeds of Download to experience a memorable weekend. With Lounge on the Farm you get three days of great music, with a unique line-up and a great atmosphere.
