Expanded into a three day event in 2010, the Lovebox event in London has grown into an epic size, having already increased its capacity regularly over the years since its inception. Lovebox has also earned a reputation for putting on some great shows in Dublin, Ibiza and Newcastle as well, adding to an eclectic range of choice.
Lovebox has come a long way since it was first staged in 2002, with that first year taking the form of a club night hosted by Groove Armada, the DJs behind the project. By the following year it had already increased in size to become an outdoor event, with Norman Jay and The Blackbyrds joining Groove Armada in a brand new location in Clapham Common. This tradition of expanded continued across the decade, with the capacity expanded to 20,000 in 2004 and a line up including Groove Armada alongside Richie Havens, Norman Jay, Mr Scruff and more. 2005 saw the capacity increase once again, this time to 25,000 and acts like Norman Jay, Bugz in the Attic and Gilles Peterson amongst others.
By the time the end of the decade had reared its head in 2009 the Lovebox Festival had doubled in size from 2005 and was now welcoming 50,000 people to the sight at Victoria Park and in the years between the likes of Manu Chao, The Flaming Lips, Jamiroquai and others had made an appearance. But the 2009 event was the biggest yet with Duran Duran, Florence and the Machine, Doves, N.E.R.D and more taking to the stage, making way for Dizzee Rascal, Roxy Music, Grace Jones, Paloma Faith and more in 2010.
