Formed in 1996, the band Alkaline Trio have made a profound impact upon their fans during the almost fourteen years they have been making music.

During the early years, the band consisted only of members Matt Skiba (lead vocals and guitar), Glenn Porter (Drums) and Rob Duran (bass). The original members all come from a town called McHenry, Illinois in the United States. After Rob Duran left the band, Dan Andriano took his place and the band began working on what would be their first album, Goddamnit in 1998.  Before the release of Goddamnit, the band had acquired a significantly large fan base due to the release of two EPs in 1997 and 1998.

Other albums such as From Here to Infirmary contain popular singles such as ‘Private Eye’ and ‘Stupid Kid’, of which two music videos were made. The band has also taken part in various of side projects: Dan Andriano joined a band named The Falcon consisting of performers from various other bands. In 2006, Matt Skiba also worked on a side project named Patent Pending with other members such as Isiah Owens from The Mars Volta.

The band released information stating that they were to record a new album under their own record label, and this record, named ‘This Addiction’ went on sale in February 2010. Skiba, the band’s front-man described how the album would be much more emotional than the previous albums, and would tell the bands’ story. This record came in at number eleven on the top 200 chart, making it the best album the band has released thus far.
