Consisting of Cristina Scabbia, Andrea Ferro, Cristiano Migliore, Marco Coti Zelati, Marco Biazzi and Cristiano Mozzati, Lacuna Coil have been celebrated both at home in Italy and around the rest of the world, where they continue to perform to dedicated audiences of committed fans.
The band first formed back in 1994, inspired by a range of gothic styles and imagery to form a group that reflected these interests. They eventually signed to a record contract and decided on the name Lacuna Coil, which means Empty Spiral in English, releasing a self titled EP in 1998.
They soon followed it up with their debut album “In a Reverie” in 1999 and took to the stage to support the album around Europe, playing in front of thousands of rock fans and adding to their growing fan base. Audiences and critics hailed “In a Reverie” as a great album from a brand new band and the future was already looking bright. As well as an EP entitled “Half Life” in 2000, Lacuna Coil were soon to release their anticipated follow up “Unleashd Memories” in 2001, which they then followed up with “Comalies” in 2002 and “Karmacode” in 2006.
2009 saw Lacuna Coil reappear in the charts with their fifth album “Shallow Life”, which saw the band offer fans something a little different from before. The album saw them move away from overly-gothic themes, but it retained its popular rock sound and sold 70,000 copies when it was released in the United States. Lacuna Coil had proven that they could continue to impress their fans and when they headed out on tour they were playing alongside the likes of Disturbed and Killswitch Engage, cementing them as a popular rock band with a difference.
