The band was well known for their artistic style of music, and are still adored by fans today, even though they no longer are together as a band.

In 1972, after struggling to become recognised and after dabbling with various other band names and styles of music, 10cc was signed to UK Records by Jonathan King. The band’s name came from a dream of Kings, in which he saw a marquee with the words “10cc, The Best Band in the World” written on it. The band released their first single ‘Donna’ under UK Records, and it peaked at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, and at one point was known as the ‘single of the week.’ This success allowed 10cc to make an impact with the public.

The band stayed with UK Records until 1975, when they signed a one million dollar deal with Mercury Records. The band released ‘The Original Soundtrack’ shortly after signing with Mercury, and fans and critics alike praised the album. The album contained well known tracks such as ‘Une Nuit A Paris,’ ‘I’m Not in Love’ and ‘Life is a Minestrone.’ Various singles from this album managed to break through into the top ten charts in the UK, making 10cc a well recognised name in England.

The band’s next release ‘How Dare You’ was another feat for 10cc; however, by the time this LP was released, relationships between the members were beginning to become strained. This album would be the last made by the original lineup of 10cc. After Godley and Creme departed the band, the remaining members decided not to give up on 10cc, and recruited Paul Burgess as their new drummer. Duncan Mackay would soon join as the band’s keyboardist, again giving 10cc a full line up.

Fans of 10cc will agree that although their music was at its prime in the 70s, each album is timeless and will remain successful in any decade. Fans of 10cc who saw them in concert will agree that it is something never to be forgotten, and is rather something to be cherished. The albums by 10cc are still available to the public, and can be bought through online retail stores, or in record stores throughout the country.
