The band comes from Oxford in the United Kingdom and has been signed to Transgressive Records in the UK, and Sub Pop Records in the United States since their formation in the early 2000s.
In the early days, the members of the band were all in various bands of their own, trying to make it big. The band came together to work on their first album after a couple of the band members decided to leave behind their studies at University and sign to Transgressive Records. ‘Antidotes’ was recorded in the summer of 2007 under the production of Dave Sitek. The band, however, decided to do the final mixing as they were unhappy with the sound that Sitek had produced. The album was released in March of 2008 and debuted at number three in the UK Album Charts. Although successful in the UK and the United States, the album failed to become hugely successful in other countries in Europe and Asia.
Shortly after the release of ‘Antidotes,’ the band began the recording process for their second album ‘Total Life Forever’ in late summer of 2009. The members of Foals have stated that the album is a lot more relaxed than they had originally thought it would sound. The band has give n fans a taste of what the album will sound like by performing various tracks from the album at their concerts. Songs such as ‘Total Life Forever,’ ‘Alabaster’ and ‘Spanish Sahara’ are all songs from the new album that have been debuted to fans at some of their gigs. The band has also created and launched a webstie for the release of ‘Total Life Forever.’ The site consists of various puzzles, games and images that are all related to the album. Various clips of the songs are also released on the website each day, so if you are a Foals fan, be sure to check out the promotional webstie for their newest upcoming release.
For those who have not seen Foals in concert and would like to, it is highly advisable to purchase tickets as early as possible, as it is likely that a Foals concert will sell out rapidly. Check online for upcoming tour dates from the band.
