“The X Factor” has given us a number of high profile performers over the years who have gone on to find success in the charts and live onstage. Some of them, such as Jedward, have managed this even though they did not win the competition. Others, such as Leona Lewis, have found an international audience after coming out on top.
Then there’s Joe McElderry, the winner of the competition in 2009, who will undoubtedly attract quite a crowd when he announces a solo tour of the country. McElderry performed numerous songs as part of the competition and during the course of the season, as other contestants were voted out, he emerged in the final few before winning the series in Week 10. But when the high publicity died down the single would eventually reach the top of the charts a week later. “The Climb” was a cover of a Miley Cyrus song of the same name and proved to be an interesting choice for the winner of “The X Factor” – being used again on “American Idol” on the other side of the Atlantic. McElderry has also appeared on singles like “Everybody Hurts” (for the Helping Haiti appeal) and “You’re Not Alone” alongside other “The X Factor” finalists.
2010 will see him release his debut album into the charts and it is likely to be watched with great anticipation as his popularity is put to the test. Whatever the results it is likely to make his fans happy and they are likely to pick up the album with haste before looking out for pop tickets to see him on tour.
So make sure you are amongst those standing alongside like-minded fans as Joe McElderry takes to the stage and performs some stand-out tracks that will undoubtedly make him a star. Nothing is likely to beat the feeling of standing on stage and witnessing a rising talent emerge in front of the lights. After all, “The X Factor” has given us a wealth of stars over the years and when he releases his debut album in 2010 we will finally discover if Joe McElderry will be able to join the likes of Leona Lewis and her worldwide audience. So far he has had success with the singles he has released and he has plenty of fans, so we are likely to hear a lot from him down the line.
