Having first emerged in the 1970s with an array of power ballads that brought them great success in the charts, Journey re-emerged in the 1990s and have been touring ever since, re-affirming their success with fans and performing some instantly recognisable songs all over the world.
The result has been widespread recognition of their work, with various awards and honours bestowed upon them during their career and great praise sent their way from both sides of the Atlantic. So as they arrive on UK shores to perform in arenas nationwide, concert tickets to witness Journey are going to be the talking point of the rock scene.
The current line-up of Journey includes recent lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, in addition to long-lasting members such as Neal Schon on lead guitar, Jonathan Cain on rhythm guitar and keyboards and Ross Valory on the bass guitar with, another relatively recent addition, Deen Castronovo on the drums. The group was formed by those who had previously been a part of the rock band Santana with Carlos Santana and soon they released various songs that are remembered to this day, from 1978’s “Lights” and 1981’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” to other releases like “Any Way You Want It”, “Who’s Crying Now?”, “Send Her My Love” and “When You Love A Woman”, amongst others.
Then there are their studio albums, which have also spanned many decades, from “Journey” in 1975 and “Look into the Future” in 1976 to others like “Infinity” in 1978, “Raised on Radio” in 1986, “Trial by Fire” in 1996, “Arrival” in 2001, “Generators” in 2005 and “Revelation” in 2008. So whilst there are other groups that have survived the decades as well, including bands like Boston or Styx, Journey have managed to maintain their place alongside them, continuing to be regarded as amongst the best rock acts of all time.
And this is why witnessing them live is a must for any American rock fan out there, with rock tickets giving audiences the opportunity to hear some acclaimed and famous songs performed in a live setting. Tracks such as “Don’t Stop Believin’” – if they make it onto the set list – will undoubtedly sound spectacular in a live setting and prove to audiences that what sounds great on disc will sound even better when it is performed by the band in person. And when that band is Journey, they are certainly in for a memorable show.
So having appeared for the first time in the 1970s, made a name for themselves with various singles across that decade and the 1980s, then briefly split ahead of a 1990s reunion, Journey more than live up to their name. But it is not over yet and audiences can expect to hear plenty more from them as time goes on, with an array of tracks that they can continue to perform well into the future.
