Legendary rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd return to the stage for another rundown of hit songs that have been popular over the last few decades. Since 1964, it has been a group that has experienced unprecedented success and unbelievable tragedies, whilst continuing to provide fans with stage shows to remember.
Lynyrd Skynyrd has featured a multitude of singers and musicians as part of its line up, continuing today with only Garry Rossington remaining in the band from the original team. However, they still manage to attract many fans, who can’t get enough of a group that has produced some well known songs.
It is hard to talk about Lynyrd Skynyrd without mentioning the horrific incident that took the lives of many of the founding members, with a plane crash in 1977 resulting in the deaths of Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and backing singer Cassie Gaines, as well as the assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, the plane’s pilot Walter McCreary and the co-pilot William Gray. It was an event that saw the other band members succumb to injury and has had a huge effect on the way in which the band is remembered.
But the group is also well known for some famous songs, including both “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Free Bird”, which continue to receive airplay to this day. Both songs appeared in the charts during the peak years of the band in the 1970s, with albums including “Lynyrd Skynyrd (Pronounced 'Leh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd)” in 1973, “Second Helping” in 1974, “Nuthin’ Fancy” in 1975, “Gimme Back My Bullets” (1976) and “Street Survivors” in 1977. These albums have since earned gold and platinum status in the United States and continue to be popular choices for southern rock fans.
Today, Lynyrd Skynyrd continue to appear on stage, with Ronnie Van Zant’s brother Johnny taking centre stage as the lead singer, whilst the likes of Gary Rossington, Rickey Medlocke, Michael Catellone, Mark Matejka, Robert Kearns and Peter Kays join him in concert. They have also released further albums, such as “Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991” (1991), “Twenty” (1997), “Vicious Cycle” (2003) and “God & Guns” (2009).
When they go on sale, Lynyrd Skynyrd tickets are certain to be popular and getting hold of them top priority.
