Made up of twin brothers in the forms of Charlie Reid and Craig Reid, The Proclaimers were born in the Leith district of Edinburgh and these roots played a part in their work, with the track “Sunshine on Leith” still proving to be amongst their most famous songs. But whilst this track has its fans, there are plenty of music lovers who would consider “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” as their biggest hit. Considering the reaction to the re-release alongside Peter Kay and Matt Lucas in 2007, they may have a point. But alongside other tracks like “Letter from America”, “I’m on My Way”, “King of the Road” and “Whole Wide World”, they have all ensured the lasting legacy of The Proclaimers.

This has also been sealed by the albums that they have released over the years, which span a period of time from 1987 to 2009, including the debut “This is the Story” in 1987 and progressing to “Sunshine on Leith” in 1988 and “Hit the Highway” in 1994, in addition to recent releases like “Restless Soul”, “Life With You” and “Notes & Rhymes”. As such, with pop tickets out there to witness The Proclaimers in a live setting, fans will be quick to snap them up.

So after more than two decades in the music industry, The Proclaimers undoubtedly remain a popular choice for fans across the country. From their early days in which they were championed by The Housemartins, including Paul Heaton, to their recent success in the charts for comic relief, The Proclaimers are certainly a band with a successful past and it is likely we will continue to enjoy their work for years to come.

After all, they are amongst the most famous Scottish bands out there and they have cemented their status as one of the top acts around with plenty of studio albums and singles. So when concert tickets go on sale there are likely to be plenty of people hoping to hear live versions of tracks that are now world famous. With cultural references to their output all around, plus covers and re-releases they remain a famous band even in the modern day and this is a testament to the lasting impression they have had on the chart world.
