From 1979 and until 1984, The Joe Perry Project had been a musical venture for the Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, producing a range of hit albums and performing on stages around the world. Much of their success was in the early 1980s, but they have added to their back catalogue in recent years with a greatest hits album and a brand new release in 2009, reminding audiences of why so much interest surrounded them in the first place.
Though Perry returned to Aerosmith in 1984, the Joe Perry Project has remained a popular choice for music fans, showing that whilst they had little in the way of support from labels back then, they had plenty of support from fans.
There was never a solidified line up for The Joe Perry Project, but the current team of musicians consists of Perry alongside Hagen Grohe, David Hull, Paul Santo and Marty Richards. Former members include Ronnie Stewart, Ralph Mormon, Charlie Farren, Cowboy Mach Bell, Joey Mala, Danny Hargrove, Brad Whitford and Joe Pet. At some point they have all contributed to the output of The Joe Perry Project, whether it has been onstage or on one of their early hit albums.
The first of these albums was the 1980 release “Let the Music Do the Talking”, which went on to sell in the hundreds of thousands in the United States alone. The album was the first of four, which would all appear over numerous decades, and retained some of the creative team from Aerosmith (including their producer), going on to receive positive feedback and setting the stage for further releases down the line. During their original run they would also release “I’ve Got the Rock’n’Rolls Again” in 1981 and “Once a Rocker, Always a Rocker” in 1983. Their next release would then take the form of the greatest hits album “The Music Still Does the Talking: The Best of the Joe Perry Project” in 1999, before they reformed to present 2009’s “Have Guitar, Will Travel”.
Their reformation saw them release a new single called “We’ve Got a Long Way to Go”, with Steven Tyler from Aerosmith joining them onstage in New York. Their latest album demonstrates lasting appeal for the band as they embark on new tours and bring in new fans.
As a result, The Joe Perry Project tickets will be unmissable items when they go on sale. Fans should be certain to get them as soon as possible.
