Billy Boyd to star in Proclaimers musical
Billy Boyd has been announced as taking on a lead role in the musical Sunshine on Leith, which is based on the music of the Proclaimers.
The music album of the same name from the Scottish band forms the basis of the show, which is set to see the Lord of the Rings actor take on the role of Davy.
Although he is no stranger to performing, Boyd admitted to STV that it has been some time since he has sung on stage.
"This is the first time since my very first job out of drama school that I have actually been in a musical," he said.
Written by Stephen Greenhorn and featuring 21 tracks from the band, the musical is set to open in Glasgow at the King's Theatre on September 28th 2010 and run through to October 2nd.
Other shows set to be staged at the theatre in the coming weeks include Calendar Girls and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
