EastEnders star to appear in Chas 'n' Dave musical
EastEnders star Cliff Parisi is to appear in a new musical based on the songs of Chas 'n' Dave.
As a result, tickets for the West End production - entitled Stop Dreamin' - are likely to be snapped up by both soap fans and lovers of the veteran cockney musicians.
Parisi, who plays Minty in EastEnders, has already been praised by writer Ray Cooney, who described him as a "lovely guy" and "perfect" for the role of Fred.
Speaking to the Daily Star, he was equally effusive with his praise for Chas 'n' Dave, whose hits include Ain't No Pleasing You, Stars Over 45 and a string of records for Tottenham Hotspur FC.
"They are fantastic - they wrote good old knees-up songs but also some very moving numbers," Cooney commented.
Chas 'n' Dave recently confirmed that they would get back together for a farewell tour, after Dave announced his retirement last year.
He called time on the band following the death of his wife Sue, but they will bow out with dates including a gig at the Indigo in London on March 11th next year.
