First Names Join Underage Festival Line-up
Bombay Bicycle Club and Janelle Monae Lined up for the London Summer Event
Once again a summer music festival dishes out the names set to entertain the crowds during the summer months. Earlier this week it was the turn of Summer Sundae and Hard Rock Calling and today it is the turn of London’s teenager-aimed event the Underage Festival. So those between the ages of 13 and 18 headed to Victoria Park in August will be witnessing a line-up headed by Bombay Bicycle Club. The London-based band will also be joined by a long list of names that include Janelle Monae, Frankie and the Heartstrings, Dog is Dead and Brothers, among others.
Bombay Bicycle Club are a well known alternative rock act that have been around since the second half of the last decade, progressing from a breakout appearance at a summer music festival to the release of studio albums between 2009 and 2010, with plenty more to follow. Audiences know them for songs such as “Always Like This”, “Dust on the Ground” and “Rinse me Down”, in addition to albums like “I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose” and “Flaws”. Their appearance at the Underage Festival will be the latest in a long line of festival appearances that also includes previous years of the Underage, plus T in the Park and the V Festival.
The Underage Festival is well known as a place for younger audiences to get a chance to experience the summer music scene, with festival tickets only available to those between 13 and 18. It has been running annually at Victoria Park in London since 2007 and over the years it has welcomed an array of well known names, from Laura Marling to The Young Knives. Last year it was the likes of Lightspeed Champion, Annie Mac and Tinie Tempah that made their way to the stage.
Other names so far announced for the Underage Festival 2011 are Cocknbullkid, The Chapman Family, Crystal Fighters, Roll Deep, Devlin, Maverick Sabre, Florrie, Labrinth, Fugative, Giggs and Ghost Eyes.
The Underage Festival 2011 is set to take place at Victoria Park in London on Friday 5th August 2011.
