Gorillaz take Glastonbury headline slot
People with tickets for Gorillaz' upcoming UK tour are to get a sneak preview of their show at this year's Glastonbury Festival.Irish rockers U2, whose hits include One, Vertigo and Beautiful Day, were forced to relinquish the headline slot after lead singer Bono had surgery on his back.
Gorillaz, who were founded by Blur frontman Damon Albarn, have therefore stepped into the breach.
This will give festivalgoers and TV audiences a great chance to see Gorillaz in action ahead of their UK tour later in the year.
The band will play Glasgow on September 8th, before calling at Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester and the O2 Arena in London.
Michael Eavis, organiser of the Glastonbury Festival, commented: "I'm very excited about Gorillaz' show coming here because they're so open to guests and collaborations."
Albarn added that he wishes Bono all the best during his recovery, which has also forced U2 to cancel their upcoming tour of the US.
