Judas Priest Announce Their Final Tour in the Summer

Classic Heavy Metal Act Heading to Manchester Apollo and Other Locations in July

The English heavy metal rockers Judas Priest have revealed details of their upcoming UK concert dates as part of an international tour – which is set to be the last time that they will hit the road. The UK leg of the worldwide effort begins on Friday 15th July 2011 at the Newport Centre and ends on Sunday 24th July 2011 with an appearance at Bournemouth International Centre. After that the band plans to remain together as a recording band and will release new material when it is ready.

Judas Priest first emerged onto the scene in 1974 with the album “Rocka Rolla” and in the years since they have built up a large fan base that has spanned four generations of music lovers. Their follow-up albums would take the forms of “Sad Wings of Destiny” and “Stained Glass” from the 1970s, plus “Point of Entry”, “Painkiller”, “Angel of Retribution” and “Nostradamus”. So it has been a long career and fans of the group are likely to be flocking to pick up rock tickets in what is likely to be their final chance to see them live in 2011.

The band is currently made up of vocalist Rob Halford, guitarist K K Downing, guitarist and keyboardist Glenn Tipton, bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis. Together their work has also included songs such as “Rocka Rolla”, “Metal Gods”, “Living After Midnight” and “Breaking the Law”.

With Newport beginning the UK leg on the 15th, the band then heads to the Manchester O2 Apollo on the 16th July, followed by Doncaster Dome on the 17th, Glasgow SECC on the 19th, Newcastle Metro Radio Arena on the 20th, Wolverhampton Civic Hall on the 21st, London’s High Voltage Festival on the 23rd and Bournemouth International Centre on the 24th.

The revelation that it would be their final tour emerged in December, though fans are likely to be appeased by the additional material they have said they will produce as the years go on. So even when the tour is over we won’t have heard the last from Judas Priest.
