Lauren Samuels hails West End debut
Theatregoers with tickets for Lauren Samuels' first appearance in Grease have been praised by the performer.
Speaking to the Leicester Mercury, she stated that the audience really helped her to relax, as they were singing and clapping throughout the show.
"If they had just kept quiet and started at me, it would have made me even more nervous," she commented.
Samuels is now starring as Sandy in Grease at the Piccadilly Theatre in London.
The performer rose to prominence in Over the Rainbow, the TV talent show that looked for a new Dorothy in a production of The Wizard of Oz.
Although she came third after runner-up Sophie Evans and winner Danielle Hope, her performances were good enough to land her this role in the West End.
Samuels revealed that many of the other Dorothys from Over the Rainbow supported her on her big night and were "making as much noise as anyone".
