Sting to tour UK with orchestra
Rock legend Sting has confirmed he will be going on a world tour with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra..The former Police frontman, 58, will kick off his 47-date Symphonicities tour in Vancouver next month, before heading to places such as London later in the year.
This tour sees him take yet another change in direction, following previous dabblings with Elizabethan lute music and traditional winter songs.
Sting will be performing orchestral versions of many of his greatest hits during the shows.
He revealed that he is delighted to have a "new palate of musical colours to work with", as they will let him reinvent the songs that have been "the staples of my live performances for over 30 years".
Audiences were given a sneak preview recently with an intimate five-song set at Abbey Road Studios in London, in which he played new renditions of classics such as Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic.
A studio album featuring the orchestral renditions of Sting hits, which is also called Symphonicities, will be released this summer.
