V Festival Headliners Announced
Eminem and Arctic Monkeys Will Headline the Summer Event
The V Festival is the latest summer event to reveal its headline acts in recent weeks, with both the Download Festival and T in the Park announcing the likes of Def Leppard, Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys amongst their top-billed acts. The latter will be making their way to the V Festival as well, with Eminem the additional headline act of the two-day summer event. The annual festival takes place in August in what will be its 16th anniversary.
With Eminem and Arctic Monkeys headlining the main stage it has been announced that both Dizzee Rascal and Primal Scream will take to the second stage as the main acts, with other performances across the site from artists such as Bruno Mars, Razorlight, Rihanna, Olly Murs, Kaiser Chiefs, Plan B, Tinie Tempah, The Script, The Saturdays, Pendulum, Ellie Goulding, Jessie J, Scouting for Girls, The Courteeners, N-Dubz and The Wombats. So there is a large mix of acts taking to the stages, from rock acts to R&B and pop stars, meaning that there will be a wide range of audiences getting hold of festival tickets in the month ahead.
Eminem has been a popular act ever since he emerged in the 1990s with albums such as “Infinite” and “The Slim Shady LP” towards the end of the decade. In the 2000s he continued to maintain an audience with further releases such as “The Marshall Mathers LP” and “Encore”, plus more recent efforts like “Recovery” in 2010. He is best known for songs like “The Real Slim Shady”, “Stan” and “Lose Yourself” – the latter penned for the movie in which he starred entitled “8 Mile” in 2002.
Arctic Monkeys, in addition to headlining V Festival and T in the Park, are hard at work getting their fourth album finished. It will be the follow-up to releases such as “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not” from 2006, “Favourite Worst Nightmare” from 2007 and “Humbug” from 2009, which were famous for songs like “Crying Lightning”, “I Bet That You Look Good on the Dance Floor”, “Cornerstone” and “Brianstorm”, among others.
The V Festival 2011 appears at Chelmsford and Staffordshire, with the acts alternating between the sites from Saturday 20th August 2011 to Sunday 21st August 2011.
