West End star hails Grease role
Theatregoers with Grease tickets look set to be treated to a performance from a very enthusiastic leading lady.
Lauren Samuels rose to prominence in TV talent show Over the Rainbow, in which she tried to secure the role of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.
She came third in the competition, behind runner-up Sophie Evans and winner Danielle Hope, but her performances were swiftly noticed by the London theatre fraternity.
Samuels has now secured a role as Sandy in Grease, which is currently running at the Piccadilly Theatre.
"It really is a dream come true," she told the Leicester Mercury.
"I love coming into work every day - this is all I've wanted to do and now I'm there."
Samuels described Grease as such a popular musical that "everyone" knows the songs and the characters.
She added that in the run-up to her debut performance, she watched the 1978 film version with John Travolta many times.
