The classic pantomime of “Aladdin” returns to the stage in 2012 in “A Wish Come True”, which is appearing at The Theatre at the O2. Those with theatre tickets will be able to take a journey to Ancient China for a story that remains popular even after all these years. And if the classic tale of a boy and his magic lamp is not enough to entice audiences then the promise of Lily Savage as Widow Twankey should do the trick. Paul O’Grady has allowed Savage to make her way back to the stage for this well known role after portraying Twankey on numerous occasions in the past.
The story of “Aladdin – A Wish Come True” involves an evil sorcerer called Abanazar, who wishes to find a magic lamp to grant him untold power. This lamp is in the hands of Aladdin, who works at a Chinese Laundry alongside his mother Widow Twankey. After falling for a beautiful princess he gains great happiness and fortune at the hands of the lamp’s genie. But Abanazar still wants it for himself and will stop at nothing to get it.
This show will be a spectacular one that will take on unique surroundings in the O2, where a custom-built theatre capable of holding nearly 2,000 people will be its home. It allows the larger O2 Arena to continue to house upcoming shows like “Walking With Dinosaurs”.
“Aladdin – A Wish Come True” is at the Theatre at the O2 from Friday 7th December 2012 to Saturday 5th January 2013.
