At the end of August 2013 audiences have the chance to witness Cabaret at the New Wimbledon Theatre. Not only will it be an opportunity to revisit a musical penned by Christopher Isherwood, John Kander and Fred Ebb, it will also be an opportunity to witness Will Young in the role of Emcee and Michele Ryan as the famous Sally Bowles. As part of a UK tour the production will take audiences back to 1930s Berlin and allow those with theatre tickets the opportunity to explore well known characters once again.
Cabaret introduces us to Sally Bowles, the performer of the famous Kit Kat Club in Berlin, 1931, and we witness her relationship with Cliff Bradshaw, an American writer. The club is a kind of refuge for the characters and as we meet these colourful personalities the threat of the Nazis looms over them and the onset of war is near.
Kander and Ebb provided the music and lyrics whilst Christopher Isherwood penned the book back in 1966. Now the musical, based on the play by John Van Druten, is one of the best known musicals in the world and regularly appears amongst well known west end shows and on other famous stages in front of adoring fans.
Cabaret runs at the New Wimbledon Theatre from Wednesday 28th August 2013.
