18-22 Greenside Place
The Edinburgh Playhouse is situated on Greenside Place, at the top of Leith Walk and close to the east end of Princes Street. This is less than 10 minute's walk from Waverley Station, 5 minutes walk from the bus station and on various major bus routes.
There are few people who haven’t heard of the hit musical “Cats”. After all, it is one of the most successful musicals of all time and before its West End closure in 2002 it was the longest running musical in the capital (though it has since been overtaken by shows like “The Phantom of the Opera” and “Les Misérables”). So when it makes its way back to the stage it is always in with a chance of attracting an enormous crowd of theatregoers, wherever in the country it emerges.
This time it is the turn of the Edinburgh Playhouse to get in on the action as it welcomes “Cats” as part of its latest UK tour. From February to March 2013 audiences will be able to relish in this Andrew Lloyd Webber classic.
It s a stylish story that is plucked from the pages of TS Eliot’s “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats”, with everything one would need from a great story to enjoy a compelling experience. But it also has a fantastic score; something that has helped it to be remembered as one of the most iconic musicals of all time.
“Cats” begins its UK tour with an appearance at the Edinburgh Playhouse from Saturday 9th February 2013 to Saturday 2nd March 2013.
