Audiences looking for a high profile pantomime this Christmas will be right at home in the West End as the London Palladium provides the stage for Cinderella, with an acclaimed pantomime company taking audiences on a spectacular journey with rich and colourful characters.
What better way to experience this wonderful pantomime than in Theatreland? After all, this is the location in which some of the world’s best shows appear in the bright lights on London’s West End. It will ensure that this annual British tradition is better than ever!
The story of Cinderella is a classic one, focusing on the girl mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters, and it follows her as she attends the prince’s ball thanks to the work of her Fairy Godmother. Will she get back in time for the spell to end before midnight? Will she win the prince’s heart? These are the questions on audience’s minds as the fairy tale continues towards its iconic ending.
Well known as part of the Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Cinderella is a story that goes back centuries and has been told in many forms, perhaps most famously as an animated Disney film, and first emerged as a pantomime in 1904 in London’s West End.
As such audiences will be seeing the production in its original home (albeit at the Palladium rather than the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and the Adelphi as it appeared originally) and as such it will be a must-see this Christmas.
Directed by Michael Harrison and Andrew Wright, Cinderella opens at the London Palladium on Friday 9th December 2016.
