Dancing on Ice - O2 Arena London

It is not every day you get to see your favourite celebrities take to an ice skating rink and either soar majestically on its surface or tumble clumsily to a halt. But with “Torvill & Dean’s Dancing on Ice”, this is exactly what you are getting as ITV’s ice spectacular returns to the road for a brand new tour in 2010. Fans of the show will undoubtedly grab tickets as fast as they can and with the O2 Arena on its schedule during April, this will be the location of choice.

The Greenwich venue will be a brilliant location to witness the show, being a relatively young venue amongst the arenas that appear in cities nationwide. Housed within the O2 complex, which was formerly the Millennium Dome, the location has already housed the likes of Led Zeppelin, Spice Girls, Britney Spears, Bryan Adams, The Rolling Stones, Lee Evans and more having only been purchased by O2 in 2005. It means that as the years continue to roll by, the venue is only going to go from strength to strength.

With “Dancing on Ice” the venue will become a brilliant indoor skating rink on which celebrities and their professional partners perform ice skating routines in hope of winning over the judges. Gaining a high score will be the aim of the game as the format we know and love from television is replayed under the roof of the arena, hopefully offering a memorable experience.

The show is now in its fourth year and 2010 is also the 26th anniversary of Torvill & Dean’s legendary arrival onto the world stage in the 1984 Winter Olympics. Less than ten years earlier they had been paired up by a Nottingham coach and launched on their way to ice-skating stardom, but no-one could have anticipated the levels of success they would achieve. After winning Olympic Gold they turned professional and began to train the stars of tomorrow, then after a hiatus they returned to our screens in the ITV show. Those at the O2 this April, or any of the other date’s for the “Dancing on Ice” tour, will then get to see them perform some routines for the crowd.

Torvill & Dean’s Dancing on Ice is at the O2 Arena from Friday 16th April 2010 until Tuesday 20th April 2010.
