When Christmas 2015 rolls around, audiences will be turning their attention to shows with a more festive message to celebrate the holiday season in style. The West End regularly offers plenty of opportunities to witness such shows and this year it can add Elf The Musical to the long list. The stage musical is an adaptation of the 2003 film of the same name, which saw Will Ferrell head to New York City in a fish-out-of-water comedy that celebrates the Christmas spirit.

This time around it is Ben Forster who takes on Ferrell’s role of Buddy the Elf, whilst Kimberley Walsh takes to the stage as Jovie. Under the direction and choreography of Morgan Young, they will bring new life to a beloved story at the Dominion Theatre

At the start of Elf The Musical we are introduced to the elves that run Santa’s workshop and amongst them is Buddy, a human who has been living with them ever since he stowed away on Santa’s sleigh as a baby. But when he discovers that he is not an elf he decides to leave the North Pole and head out to New York City in search of his real father. We follow Buddy in this new location as he attempts to spread Christmas spirit whilst struggling to fit in to a huge and alien city and attempting to find a place with the rest of his family.

Ben Forster has appeared in various west end shows, so he brings plenty of experience to the stage of the Dominion Theatre when he takes on the role of Buddy. Many in the audience will recognise him from the ITV talent series Superstar, which saw him land the title role in Jesus Christ Superstar on a UK tour. Beyond that he appeared in Evita at the Dominion Theatre, plus a touring version of The Rocky Horror Show and La Cava at the Piccadilly Theatre.

As well as Elf The Musical, the West End also hosts other films-turned-musicals like The Lion King and Billy Elliot The Musical, which the whole family can enjoy.

Elf The Musical is at the Dominion Theatre from Thursday 5th November 2015 (with previews from Saturday 24th October 2015).
