18-22 Greenside Place
The Edinburgh Playhouse is situated on Greenside Place, at the top of Leith Walk and close to the east end of Princes Street. This is less than 10 minute's walk from Waverley Station, 5 minutes walk from the bus station and on various major bus routes.
The classic stage production Evita heads to the stage of the Edinburgh Playhouse in January 2014, giving audiences the chance to delve back into the world portrayed in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s musical. Chronicling the story of Eva Perón, the wife of Juan Perón (the Argentinean president from 1946 to 1955), Evita has been seen on both sides of the Atlantic since it landed in the West End in 1978 and has been on the receiving end of numerous awards.
With songs like Oh What A Circus, Rainbow High, The Art Of The Possible, Another Suitcase In Another Hall and Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, plus others, Evita remains a firm favourite of audiences not only because of the fantastic stage show but also because of the famous movie starring Madonna.
Eva Perón embarked on a great journey through her life, from an ambitious youth to a powerful adulthood as the wife of the former Argentinean dictator, with charity work and great influence leading to her popularity even after her death.
The Edinburgh Playhouse has a lot to offer in 2014, from Fame to Tonight’s The Night, and amongst all of this the stand-out Evita lands on the stage from Monday 27th January 2014.
