The classic West End musical “Hairspray” makes a welcome return to the stage in 2013 as it hits the road in a new UK tour, which includes a stop-off at the Edinburgh Playhouse in September. Audiences will have an opportunity to pick up theatre tickets and see Mark Benton in the lead role, whilst the colourful characters and songs come to life onstage once again; undoubtedly reminding audiences of why this was one of the capital’s biggest hits when it appeared in last decade. So make sure you’re the first in line when tickets emerge for this stand-out production.
The story of “Hairspray” centres on the character of Tracy Turnblad, whose big dreams match her big personality as she hopes to join the cast of one of her favourite television shows, winning the heart of the boy she loves and inspiring all of those around her along the way.
Mark Benton, who portrays Edna Turnblad, is a well known actor who has appeared in many different television programmes over the years, from “Early Doors” and “Northern Lights” to “Doctor Who” and the movie “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”.
“Hairspray” takes to the stage of the Edinburgh Playhouse for a run that begins on Tuesday 3rd September 2013 and continues to Saturday 14th September 2013.
